Adding video capability could enhance radio systems in, for example, remote locations or emergency situations.<\/p>\n<p>NIST\u2019s receiver uses atoms prepared in high-energy \u201cRydberg\u201d states, which are unusually sensitive to <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/electromagnetic+fields\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">electromagnetic fields<\/a>, including <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/radio+signals\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">radio signals<\/a>. These sensors also enable signal power measurements linked to the international system of units (SI).
