What\u2019s more, conserving water resources can also help reduce <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/carbon+emissions\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">carbon emissions<\/a>, because less energy is used to pump water through the irrigation system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new technology, called Contactless Moisture Estimation (CoMEt), does not require any in-ground sensors.
