Now, planetary scientists think there are many ocean worlds \u2013 albeit with their oceans covered by deep layers of ice, rather than hanging out on the surface like ours.<\/p>\n<p>Top on the list is Jupiter\u2019s moon Europa, believed to have a 100-kilometre-deep ocean beneath perhaps 10\u201330 km of ice. But Saturn\u2019s moons <a href=\"https:\/\/cosmosmagazine.com\/space\/exploring-the-inner-complexity-of-enceladus\/\">Enceladus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cosmosmagazine.com\/space\/exploration\/nasa-is-going-back-to-titan-looking-for-signs-of-life\/\">Titan<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cosmosmagazine.com\/space\/up-close-with-dione\/\">Dione<\/a> are also thought to have oceans, as is <a href=\"https:\/\/cosmosmagazine.com\/space\/pluto-has-an-insulated-underground-ocean\/\">Pluto<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And those may just be the tip of the iceberg. Other moons in the outer solar system are also believed or suspected to have frozen-over oceans.
