July 25 (Reuters) \u2014 U.S. chipmaker Intel Corp <a data-testid=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/companies\/INTC.O\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">(INTC.O)<\/a> said on Monday it will produce chips for Taiwan\u2019s MediaTek Inc <a data-testid=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/companies\/2454.TW\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">(2454.TW)<\/a>, one of the world\u2019s largest chip design firms.<\/p>\n<p>The manufacturing arrangement is one of the most significant deals Intel has announced since it launched its so-called foundry business early last year.<\/p>\n<p>A foundry business builds chips that other companies design and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) <a data-testid=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/companies\/2330.TW\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">(2330.TW)<\/a> is the top player in that space.
