But what if they aren\u2019t equipped with the right hardware or the signals are blocked, making communication impossible? University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign researchers started with this more difficult challenge. They developed a method to train multiple agents to work together using multi-agent reinforcement learning, a type of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s easier when agents can talk to each other,\u201d said Huy Tran, an <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/aerospace+engineer\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">aerospace engineer<\/a> at Illinois. \u201cBut we wanted to do this in a way that\u2019s decentralized, meaning that they don\u2019t talk to each other.
