The study, published in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1111\/psyp.14090\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psychophysiology<\/a><\/em>, found increased metabolism in the left hippocampus following a 6-month physical activity intervention for adolescents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe primary focus of my research is the design, evaluation, and dissemination of school-based physical activity interventions,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newcastle.edu.au\/profile\/david-lubans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Lubans<\/a>, a professor at the University of Newcastle and the corresponding author of the study.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy secondary area of interest is studying the effects and mechanisms of physical activity on young people\u2019s mental health and cognition.
