The conduit for those mindmelds relied on cables and the internet. <a href=\"https:\/\/elight.springeropen.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s43593-022-00019-x\">One new study<\/a> asked if metasurfaces could do the same.<\/p>\n<p>Led by Dr. Tie Jun Cui at the Institute of Electromagnetic Space, Southeast University in China, the study linked a well-known brainwave signal, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/P300_(neuroscience)\">P300<\/a>, to the properties of a metasurface. Their setup, electromagnetic brain-computer-metasurface (EBCM), used brainwaves to control a particular type of metasurface known as an <a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.rsc.org\/en\/content\/articlelanding\/2017\/tc\/c7tc00548b\">information metasurface<\/a>, which can code 0s and 1s like an electronic circuit board.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you need the hardware.
