On March 17, the European Space Agency (ESA)\u2019s council and member states decided to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/science-environment-60782932\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">suspend our mission<\/a>. We won\u2019t know for sure what happens next until a study by ESA and industry partners reports back in July \u2014 but there are causes for optimism.<\/p>\n<p><b>The search for subterranean life on Mars<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Rosalind Franklin rover is unique among all the rovers planned for Mars. It can drill deeper than any before it \u2014 up to 2 meters below the harsh surface.
