They also infect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apsnet.org\/edcenter\/disandpath\/viral\/pdlessons\/Pages\/TobaccoMosaic.aspx\">plants<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1099%2Fvir.0.2008%2F002089-0\">animals<\/a> important to people.<\/p>\n<p>These viruses carry their genetic information in RNA, rather than DNA. RNA viruses <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1371\/journal.pbio.3000003\">evolve at much quicker rates<\/a> than DNA viruses do.
