Linden<\/a> is dying.<\/p>\n<p>But the impending end of his life doesn\u2019t mean he\u2019s done learning about the human mind just yet. Linden was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. In a piece in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/archive\/2021\/12\/terminal-cancer-neuroscientist-prepares-death\/621114\/\">The Atlantic<\/a>, he writes: \u201cI may be dying, but I\u2019m still a science nerd.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a routine echocardiogram, doctors noticed something sticking up next to Linden\u2019s heart that they thought was a hiatal hernia or a benign growth called a teratoma, he says. After the tumor was removed, a biopsy found it was a form of malignant cancer called synovial sarcoma that had grown into the wall of his heart \u2014 making it impossible to remove.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Neuroscientist David J.
