Nature Phys. http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1038\/nphys3104 (2014).\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/nature.2014.16131#ref-CR1\" id=\"ref-link-section-d103834624e191\">1<\/a><\/sup>, was created by trapping sound waves using an ultra cold fluid. Such objects could one day help resolve the so-called black hole \u2018information paradox\u2019 \u2014 the question of whether information that falls into a black hole disappears forever.<\/p>\n<p>The physicist Stephen Hawking stunned cosmologists 40 years ago when he announced that black holes are not totally black, calculating that a tiny amount of radiation would be able to escape the pull of a black hole<sup><a data-track=\"click\" data-track-action=\"reference anchor\" data-track-label=\"link\" data-test=\"citation-ref\" aria-label=\"Reference 2\" title=\"Hawking, S. W. Nature 248, 30-31 (1974).\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/nature.2014.16131#ref-CR2\" id=\"ref-link-section-d103834624e198\">2<\/a><\/sup>.
