Fewer still win multiple literary awards for writing science fiction novels. Hardly anyone joins a major corporation as chief futurist. Neal Stephenson can be credited for doing all three.<\/p>\n<p>Writer, academician, video game designer and technology consultant are just some of the things Neal is famous for. He has authored historical epic novels \u2018Cryptonomicon\u2019 and \u2018The Baroque Cycle;\u2019 science fiction novels \u2018The Diamond Age\u2019 and \u2018Anathem;\u2019 contemporary thrillers \u2018Zodiac\u2019 and \u2018REAMDE;\u2019 and science fiction epic \u2018Seveneves,\u2019 among others.<\/p>\n<p>His \u201cSnow Crash\u201d published in 1992 preceded \u201d The Matrix\u201d series and introduced the concept of \u201cThe Metaverse\u201d. Yes, Neal Stephenson coined the term. And his 1994 \u201cInterface\u201d preceded NeuraLink by over 20 years!<\/p>\n<p>In his latest science fiction book \u201cTermination Shock,\u201d Neal lays out a scenario where an individual takes technological steps to intervene in climate change in order to ensure human survival. Let\u2019s hope that this book does is not as prophetic as some of the others.<\/p>\n<p>His imagination, unique sense of technology trends, immersive literary style, and attention to detail set a very high bar for the other science fiction authors.
