And there are a lot of objects in the Milky Way whose brightness is unknown to us. This means that sometimes, we can totally miss <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/a-colossal-wave-of-star-forming-gas-could-be-the-largest-gaseous-structure-in-the-milky-way\">huge structures<\/a> that you\u2019d think should be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/this-new-structure-in-the-milky-way-is-so-big-we-aren-t-sure-it-isn-t-a-spiral-arm\">right under our noses<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A new set of such enormous structures has now been unveiled at the outer regions of the Milky Way disk: massive, spinning filaments with unclear provenance.
