The company was spun out from AI drug discovery company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neuroinitiative.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NeuroInitiative<\/a> in 2018 after its platform identified that modulation of certain enzymes to repair mitochondrial health \u201cmay slow or stop the progression of Parkinson\u2019s disease and other age-related disorders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to seed funding, Vincere has received grants from the National Institutes of Health and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.longevity.technology\/alkahest-parkinsons-clinical-trial-gets-funding-boost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael J Fox Foundation<\/a>, and the company is now gearing up for a Series A funding round in early 2022.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Longevity. Technology: Mitochondria\u2019s role in longevity is a <\/em><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.longevity.technology\/its-time-to-sit-up-and-take-notice-of-mitochondria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>hot topic<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em>. Often referred to as the \u201cpowerhouse of the cell\u201d, these miniature organs within our cells play a key role in providing the energy needed for growth, repair and rejuvenation. As we age, our mitochondria begin to decline in function, and this decline is linked to a range of age-related diseases.
