It\u2019s not the sort of gaseous mixture that could sustain oxygen-dependent mammals such as humans.<\/p>\n<p>That said, there is actually plenty of oxygen on the Moon. It just isn\u2019t in a gaseous form. Instead, it\u2019s trapped inside regolith \u2014 the layer of rock and fine dust that covers the Moon\u2019s surface.
