The data, specifically <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/neural+signals\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">neural signals<\/a> called spike trains, can be fed into <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/machine-learning+algorithms\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">machine-learning algorithms<\/a> to improve the usability of <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/brain-computer+interfaces\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">brain-computer interfaces<\/a> (BCI).<\/p>\n<p>BCI systems work by analyzing a person\u2019s brain signals and translating that <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/neural+activity\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">neural activity<\/a> into commands, allowing the user to control <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/digital+devices\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">digital devices<\/a> like computer cursors using only their thoughts.
