Let\u2019s Use It For The Flu Vaccine Too"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/we-love-mrna-lets-use-it-for-the-flu-vaccine-too2.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The last year has been a story of triumph in the vaccine world, with the rapid development of two highly successful vaccines for Covid-19, one developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernatx.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.modernatx.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"Moderna\">Moderna<\/a> and the other by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pfizer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.pfizer.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"Pfizer\">Pfizer<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/biontech.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/biontech.de\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"BioNTech\">BioNTech<\/a>. Now that flu season is approaching, why are we still using 50-year-old technology for the flu vaccine?<\/p>\n<p>The reason the Covid-19 vaccines were developed so quickly is that they used a new, much faster and easier-to-create type of vaccine technology, based on messenger RNA, or mRNA. What\u2019s even more exciting is that we now have an overwhelming amount of evidence, from real-world experience, that these vaccines are remarkably safe and effective.<\/p>\n<p>Now, anti-vaxxers and the \u201cvaccine hesitant\u201d are claiming they don\u2019t trust the vaccine because it was developed too fast. That\u2019s ridiculous: the real reason they don\u2019t trust the vaccine is because they\u2019re consuming a steady diet of anti-vaccine nonsense, promoted by a combination of right-wing media and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/stevensalzberg\/2021\/07\/19\/de-platform-the-disinformation-dozen\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/stevensalzberg\/2021\/07\/19\/de-platform-the-disinformation-dozen\/\" aria-label=\"the Disinformation Dozen\">the Disinformation Dozen<\/a> (who include left-wing as well as right-wing zealots).
