Is this just temporary, or will the storm return to its former glory?<\/p>\n<p>Using the Hubble Space Telescope, a team of astronomers has been monitoring the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universetoday.com\/150752\/jupiters-great-red-spot-has-a-dark-secret-it-feeds-on-smaller-storms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Great Red Spot<\/a> for over a decade. They discovered that the wind speed of the outermost edge of the storm, known as the high-speed ring, has picked up speed by eight percent between 2009 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I initially saw the results, I asked, \u2018Does this make sense?\u2019 No one has ever seen this before,\u201d said Michael Wong of the University of California, Berkeley, <a href=\"https:\/\/esahubble.org\/news\/heic2110\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">who led the analysis<\/a>. \u201cBut this is something only Hubble can do.
