This has led, at last count, to the legal apparatus of four countries to weigh in on the question \u2014 with two (the <a aria-label=\"United States\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/9\/3\/22656039\/ai-inventor-patent-copyright-uspto-federal-court-ruling\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/9\/3\/22656039\/ai-inventor-patent-copyright-uspto-federal-court-ruling\">United States<\/a> and the <a aria-label=\"UK\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/technology-58668534#:~:text=Artificial%20intelligence%20(AI)%20cannot%20be, new%20invention%20to%20its%20creator.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/technology-58668534#:~:text=Artificial%20intelligence%20(AI)%20cannot%20be, new%20invention%20to%20its%20creator.\">UK<\/a>) weighing in against the idea and two (<a aria-label=\"Australia\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2021-08-01\/historic-decision-allows-ai-to-be-recognised-as-an-inventor\/100339264\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2021-08-01\/historic-decision-allows-ai-to-be-recognised-as-an-inventor\/100339264\">Australia<\/a> and <a aria-label=\"South Africa\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/in-a-world-first-south-africa-grants-patent-to-an-artificial-intelligence-system-165623\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/in-a-world-first-south-africa-grants-patent-to-an-artificial-intelligence-system-165623\">South Africa<\/a>) permitting AI as an inventor.<\/p>\n<p>If you read some of the findings, they show that the judges have, appropriately in my opinion, based their decisions on their interpretations of the law as written. This makes sense. However \u2014 this question is likely the first of many around the area of AI and new creations.
