The bacteria has been modified to secrete an anti-inflammatory molecule in response to signs of gut inflammation and has proven effective in preclinical tests.<\/p>\n<p>Our <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/gut-bacteria-microbiome-revolutions-round-up\/55786\/\">gut microbiome<\/a> is increasingly implicated in everything from <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/microbiome-breast-cancer-metastatic-spread-gut-bacteria\/60056\/\">cancer<\/a> to <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/science\/multiple-sclerosis-gut-microbiome-genetics-bacteria\/\">neurodegenerative disease<\/a> but it is still unclear exactly how we can translate these novel findings into clinical treatments. <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/fecal-transplant-super-donor-microbiome-gut-bacteria\/58148\/\">Fecal transplants<\/a> are probably the most primitive microbiome-modifying treatment we have developed, while <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/probiotic-brain-fog-bloating\/55776\/\">probiotics<\/a> simply rely on upping specific levels of naturally occurring bacteria.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the most futurist microbiome therapy under investigation is the idea of genetically engineered probiotics.
