But plants have one major advantage over humans: They can make energy directly from the sun.<\/p>\n<p>That process of turning sunlight directly into <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/usable+energy\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">usable energy <\/a>\u2014called <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/photosynthesis\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">photosynthesis <\/a>\u2014may soon be a feat humans are able to mimic to harness the sun\u2019s energy for clean, storable, efficient fuel. If so, it could open a whole new frontier of clean energy.
