Instead, it\u2019s solving the challenging energy situation that eVTOLs face: Any battery that\u2019s powerful enough to lift the thing is <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/scientist-jet-engine-electricity-thrust\" class=\"\">almost certainly too heavy<\/a> and slow-charging to make a trip worthwhile. But a team of Pennsylvania State University engineers tested new batteries that can both recharge in a matter of minutes and survive thousands of charge cycles, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/joule\/fulltext\/S2542-4351(21)00205-1\" class=\"\">according to research<\/a> published Monday in the journal <em>Joule<\/em>, making eVTOLs seem a whole lot more realistic.<\/p>\n<p>The energy-dense lithium-ion batteries represent a major leap forward in electric vehicle energy tech, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/gadgets-and-tech\/flying-car-battery-evtol-transport-b1861124.html?utm_source=reddit.com\" class=\"\">according to <em>The Independent<\/em><\/a>.
