In the process of doing so, Air Force chief of staff General Charles Q. Brown finally admitted what\u2019s been obvious for years: The F-35 program has failed to achieve its goals. There is, at this point, little reason to believe it will ever succeed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforcemag.com\/brown-launching-major-tacair-study-with-cape-considering-5th-gen-minus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to Brown,<\/a> the USAF doesn\u2019t just need the NGAD (Next Generation Air Dominance) fighter, a sixth-generation aircraft \u2014 it also needs a new, \u201c5th-generation minus \/ 4.5th-generation aircraft.\u201d Brown acknowledged some recent issues with the F-35 and suggested one potential solution was to fly the plane less often.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to moderate how much we\u2019re using those aircraft,\u201d the general said. \u201cYou don\u2019t drive your Ferrari to work every day, you only drive it on Sundays.
