{"id":121457,"date":"2021-04-12T11:22:19","date_gmt":"2021-04-12T18:22:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2021\/04\/study-reveals-neural-stem-cells-age-rapidly"},"modified":"2021-04-12T11:22:19","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T18:22:19","slug":"study-reveals-neural-stem-cells-age-rapidly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2021\/04\/study-reveals-neural-stem-cells-age-rapidly","title":{"rendered":"Study reveals neural stem cells age rapidly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/study-reveals-neural-stem-cells-age-rapidly2.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In a new study published in <i>Cell Stem Cell<\/i>, a team led by USC Stem Cell scientist Michael Bonaguidi, Ph.D., demonstrates that neural stem cells\u2014the stem cells of the nervous system\u2014age rapidly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is chronological aging, and there is <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/biological+aging\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">biological aging<\/a>, and they are not the same thing,\u201d said Bonaguidi, an Assistant Professor of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, Gerontology and Biomedical Engineering at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. \u201cWe\u2019re interested in the biological aging of neural stem cells, which are particularly vulnerable to the ravages of time.
