{"id":121394,"date":"2021-04-09T23:24:08","date_gmt":"2021-04-10T06:24:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2021\/04\/ibm-bringing-quantum-on-prem-for-cleveland-clinic"},"modified":"2021-04-09T23:24:08","modified_gmt":"2021-04-10T06:24:08","slug":"ibm-bringing-quantum-on-prem-for-cleveland-clinic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2021\/04\/ibm-bringing-quantum-on-prem-for-cleveland-clinic","title":{"rendered":"IBM Bringing Quantum on-Prem for Cleveland Clinic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/ibm-bringing-quantum-on-prem-for-cleveland-clinic.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fueled by the need for faster life sciences and healthcare research, especially in the wake of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, IBM and the 100-year-old Cleveland Clinic are partnering to bolster the Clinic\u2019s research capabilities by integrating a wide range of IBM\u2019s advanced technologies in quantum computing, AI and the cloud.<\/p>\n<p>Access to IBM\u2019s quantum systems has so far been primarily cloud-based, but IBM is providing the Cleveland Clinic with IBM\u2019s first private-sector, on-premises quantum computer in the U.S. Scheduled for delivery next year, the initial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.research.ibm.com\/quantum-computing\/system-one\/\">IBM Quantum System One<\/a> will harness between 50 to 100 qubits, according to IBM, but the goal is to stand up a more powerful, more advanced, next-generation 1000+ qubit quantum system at the Clinic as the project matures.<\/p>\n<p>For the Cleveland Clinic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hpcwire.com\/off-the-wire\/cleveland-clinic-and-ibm-unveil-landmark-10-year-partnership-to-accelerate-discovery-in-healthcare-and-life-sciences\/\">the 10-year partnership with IBM<\/a> will add huge research capabilities and power as part of an all-new Discovery Center being created at the Clinic\u2019s campus in Cleveland, Ohio.
