Such devices have been developed for pretty much every part of the body: fingers, wrists, abdomen, chest, face, ears, feet, even the tongue.<\/p>\n<p>The thing is\u2014people don\u2019t want to wear them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of these wearables currently on the market have very <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/pdf\/1611.09480.pdf\">low acceptance<\/a> from the community because you look like some sort of RoboCop when you wear them, and people don\u2019t want to attract attention to their impairment,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inf.unibe.ch\/about_us\/people\/ccn\/dr_tivadar_ruxandra\/index_eng.html\">Ruxandra Tivadar<\/a> of the University of Bern in Switzerland, during the annual meeting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cogneurosociety.org\/annual-meeting\/\">Cognitive Neuroscience Society<\/a> (CNS), held virtually this week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Devices shift away from Robocop-like wearables to simpler, more accessible assistive solutions.
