But nature is also capable of displaying a whole spectrum of eye-catching colors through building nano-scale surface structures. Creatures with intricate physical aesthetics, like a peacock\u2019s feathers or the rich patterns on a butterfly\u2019s wings, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencemag.org\/news\/2017\/05\/watch-laser-printer-make-colors-without-ink\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">achieve<\/a> this kind of high color resolution due to the small-scale arrays of distinctly shaped objects on their surfaces. This naturally occurring color structure was exploited by a team of researchers from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dtu.dk\/english\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Technical University of Denmark<\/a> (DTU). They developed a laser printing technique that doesn\u2019t require ink.<\/p>\n<p><b>Laser printing without ink<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A laser printing technique developed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dtu.dk\/english\/service\/phonebook\/person?id=9525&tab=1\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Anders Kristensen<\/a> and his DTU team is able to produce high-resolution images without fading away and without using any ink. The team constructed a material called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nanotech.dtu.dk\/english\/news\/2017\/05\/nyhedsartikel?id=8ef5cc84-c9fb-42fd-b53c-cc75462e859a\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">metasurface<\/a>, which consists of <strong>60 nanometers<\/strong> high columns of plastic.
