Many physicists have tried to solve this paradox over the years, but no approach has been universally accepted. Now, however, theoretical physicist Franck Lalo\u00eb from Laboratoire Kastler Brossel (ENS-Universit\u00e9 PSL) in Paris has proposed a new interpretation that could explain many features of the paradox. He sets out a model of this possible theory in a <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1140%2Fepjd%2Fe2019-100434-1\">new paper<\/a> in <em>EPJ D<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>One approach to solving this problem involves adding a small, random extra term to the Schr\u00f6dinger equation, which allows the quantum state vector to \u2018collapse\u2019, ensuring that \u2013 as is observed in the macroscopic universe \u2013 the outcome of each measurement is unique. Lalo\u00eb\u2019s theory combines this interpretation with another from de Broglie and Bohm and relates the origins of the quantum collapse to the universal gravitational field.
