We are witnessing a revolution in the history of warfare, one that is causing panic, particularly in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>In an analysis<a href=\"https:\/\/ecfr.eu\/article\/military-lessons-from-nagorno-karabakh-reason-for-europe-to-worry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> written<\/a> for the European Council on Foreign Relations, Gustav Gressel, a senior policy fellow, argues that the extensive (and successful) use of military drones by Azerbaijan in its recent conflict with Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh holds <em>\u201cdistinct lessons for how well Europe can defend itself.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Gressel warns that Europe would be doing itself a disservice if it simply dismissed the Nagorno-Karabakh fighting as <em>\u201ca minor war between poor countries.\u201d<\/em> In this, Gressel is correct \u2013 the military defeat inflicted on Armenia by Azerbaijan was not a fluke, but rather a manifestation of the perfection of the art of drone warfare by Baku\u2019s major ally in the fighting, Turkey. Gressel\u2019s conclusion \u2013 that <em>\u201cmost of the [European Union\u2019s] armies\u2026 would do as miserably as the Armenian Army\u201d<\/em> when faced by such a threat \u2013 is spot on.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems some countries are now switching to drone swarms.
