Apart from offering up collections of code that best the world\u2019s board game champions, they\u2019ve also managed to create an AI that, in effect, designs its own AI \u2013 and its creations have gone from analyzing words to disseminating complex imagery in a <a href=\"https:\/\/research.googleblog.com\/2017\/11\/automl-for-large-scale-image.html\">matter of months<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On a company blog post from May of this year, engineers explain how their <a href=\"https:\/\/research.googleblog.com\/2017\/05\/using-machine-learning-to-explore.html\">AutoML system<\/a> (Automated Machine Learning) gets a controller AI \u2013 which we can perhaps call the \u201cparent\u201d in a colloquial sense \u2013 that proposes designs for what the team call a \u201cchild\u201d AI architecture.<\/p>\n<p>The child is then given a task, and feedback is sent to the parent. This allows the parent to <a href=\"http:\/\/automl.info\/\">improve<\/a> how it designs a second child, and so on and so forth, thousands of times over.
