And it\u2019s hoping it could put a dent in the <a href=\"https:\/\/plasticoceans.org\/the-facts\/\">300 million tons of plastic waste<\/a> humans generate each year.<\/p>\n<p>Notpla\u2019s natural plastic-like casing is biodegradable within four to six weeks, the company says, compared to the <a href=\"http:\/\/storage.neic.org\/event\/docs\/1129\/how_long_does_it_take_garbage_to_decompose.pdf\">several hundred years<\/a> it takes synthetic plastics to biodegrade.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From a pile of seaweed to a packet of soy sauce.
