Ionic propulsion, on the other hand, is entirely electromagnetic.<\/p>\n<p>The process uses a high-voltage electric field to ionize the nitrogen and oxygen molecules in the air, liberating electrons to create, primarily, a lot of positively-charged nitrogen molecules.
