They\u2019ll live mostly in cities and have an <a href=\"https:\/\/singularityhub.com\/2020\/03\/01\/for-the-first-time-ever-the-world-is-mostly-middle-class-and-largely-old\/\">older median age<\/a> than the current global population. One looming questions is, <a href=\"https:\/\/singularityhub.com\/tag\/future-of-food\/\">what will they eat<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/foodfeatures\/green-revolution\/\">Green Revolution<\/a> of the 1960s used selective breeding to double crop yields of rice and wheat in some areas of the world, rescuing millions of people from food shortages and even famine. Now, the fast-growing global population combined with the impact of climate change on our ability to produce food\u2014increased droughts and extreme weather events many crops can\u2019t withstand\u2014points to the need for another green revolution.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily there\u2019s already one underway. It\u2019s more decentralized than the last, which makes sense given there are different challenges surfacing in different parts of the world.
