Dragonfly 44, a faint galaxy that was found in 2016 to consist of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/astronomers-have-discovered-a-massive-ghost-galaxy-that-s-99-99-percent-dark-matter\">99.99 percent dark matter<\/a>, has been closely re-examined, revealing a lower and more normal proportion of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/dark-matter\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"dark matter\">dark matter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This would mean that we don\u2019t have to revise our models of galaxy formation to try to figure out how they could have produced such an extreme outlier \u2014 everything is behaving completely normally, the researchers said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDragonfly 44 (DF44) has been an anomaly all these years that could not be explained with the existing galaxy formation models,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iac.es\/en\/outreach\/news\/puzzle-strange-galaxy-made-9999-dark-matter-solved\">said astronomer Teymoor Saifollahi<\/a> of the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The mystery of a galaxy that shouldn\u2019t have existed could now have a solution.
