Besides the actual competition, the offers a platform to drive forward research on assistance systems for everyday use, and to promote dialogue with the public.<\/p>\n<p>The first organised by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/ETH_Zurich\" title=\"ETH Zurich\">ETH Zurich<\/a>) took place in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kolping_Arena\" title=\"Kolping Arena\">Swiss Arena<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kloten\" title=\"Kloten\">Kloten<\/a> north of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zurich\" class=\"\" title=\"Zurich\">Zurich<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Switzerland\" title=\"Switzerland\">Switzerland<\/a> on 8 October 2016 and was the first international competition of this kind.<sup id=\u201d cite_ref-B2_1-0\u201d class=\u201d reference\u201d><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cybathlon#cite_note-B2-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup><sup id=\u201d cite_ref-2\u201d class=\u201d reference\u201d><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cybathlon#cite_note-2\">[2]<\/a><\/sup><sup id=\u201d cite_ref-V_3-0\u201d class=\u201d reference\u201d><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cybathlon#cite_note-V-3\">[3]<\/a><\/sup> 66 pilots from 25 nations competed in front of a stadium with approximately 4600 spectators.<\/p>\n<p>The next takes place on <b>13\u201314 November 2020<\/b> in a new format at the teams\u2019 home base instead of in the Swiss Arena in Kloten, Zurich as it had been planned<sup id=\u201d cite_ref-4\u201d class=\u201d reference\u201d><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cybathlon#cite_note-4\">[4]<\/a><\/sup>. This is due to the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/COVID-19_pandemic\" title=\"COVID-19 pandemic\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/a> which requires measures such as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Social_distancing_measures_related_to_the_COVID-19_pandemic\" title=\"Social distancing measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic\">social distancing<\/a> to be adhered.
