Both pieces of work were carried out in collaboration with researchers at the University of Oxford\u2019s Department of Experimental Psychology.<\/p>\n<p>The first, published in <i>Nature Communications<\/i>, explores how and where the <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/brain\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">brain<\/a> encodes a memory of the general <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/reward\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">reward<\/a> rate in an environment, what the team describes as the \u2018richness\u2019 of the context in which decisions are made.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Research carried out by a University academic has shed new light on the fundamentals of how, and why, we make the decisions we do.
