Researchers find that taking a particular class of drug, <em>anticholinergics<\/em>, increases the risk of developing mild thinking and memory problems.<\/p>\n<p>The study shows there are about 100 of these types of drugs in widespread use. These medications treat everything from colds to <a href=\"https:\/\/studyfinds.org\/tag\/high-blood-pressure\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">high blood pressure<\/a> to depression.<\/p>\n<p>The research, published in the journal <em><a href=\"https:\/\/n.neurology.org\/content\/early\/2020\/09\/02\/WNL.0000000000010643\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Neurology<\/a>,<\/em> finds that people with genetic risk factors for <a href=\"https:\/\/studyfinds.org\/tag\/alzheimers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alzheimer\u2019s disease<\/a> are particularly susceptible to these issues.
