The team used a healthy ear as a template and 3D printed a mirror image of that ear\u2014tissue layer by tissue layer\u2014directly onto the back of a mouse.<\/p>\n<p>All without a single surgical cut.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re thinking that\u2019s super creepy, yeah\u2026I\u2019m with you. As a proof-of-concept, however, the team shows that it\u2019s possible to build or rebuild tissue layers, even those as intricate as an ear, without requiring surgical implant.
