The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lgnewsroom.com\/2020\/08\/lg-revolutionizes-personal-clean-air-with-puricare-wearable-air-purifier\/\">PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier<\/a> uses a pair of replaceable filters similar to what you\u2019d find in LG\u2019s range of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lg.com\/us\/air-purifiers\">air purifiers for the home<\/a>, pairing them with battery-powered fans to help you breathe. LG says the device has sensors to detect when you\u2019re breathing in or out, and adjusts the fans\u2019 speeds accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s announcement ahead of IFA 2020 doesn\u2019t explicitly mention the COVID-19 pandemic, but it heavily implies that the mask was developed in response to it. The company says the wearable air purifier is designed to replace the \u201cinconsistent\u201d homemade masks worn by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2020\/4\/8\/21209653\/coronavirus-cdc-face-masks-covering-verge-staff-scarves\">some people<\/a>, as well as the disposable masks that it says have been in short supply.<\/p>\n<p>Back in July, when LG first announced the mask and said it would be donating 2,000 of the devices to a university hospital in Seoul, one executive from the company said they hoped it would help medical staff \u201camid the protracting COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.koreaherald.com\/view.php?ud=20200712000176&np=1&mp=1\"><em>The Korea Herald<\/em> reported<\/a>.
