Sometimes, these secondary infections are resistant to antibiotics and antifungals, making them difficult and potentially impossible to treat.<\/p>\n<p>Patients hospitalized with severe COVID-19 are susceptible to superinfections that occasionally are resistant to the antimicrobial available.
