Understanding the cross-species aging based on similar DNA behaviors may open more doors to investigating therapeutics to minimize lifetime risks of age-related illnesses such as Alzheimer\u2019s disease and cancers.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>A recent study published in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/cell-systems\/pdf\/S2405-4712(20)30203-9.pdf?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS2405471220302039%3Fshowall%3Dtrue\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/cell-systems\/pdf\/S2405-4712(20)30203-9.pdf?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS2405471220302039%3Fshowall%3Dtrue\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"Cell Systems\"><em>Cell Systems<\/em><\/a> sought to debunk one of the most common myths about dogs: much to our surprise, one \u201cdog year\u201d does not equal seven \u201chuman years.\u201d As described in a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/saratabin\/2020\/07\/02\/how-old-is-your-dog-really-in-human-years\/#5bdc7e0d6b6d\" target=\"_self\" class=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/saratabin\/2020\/07\/02\/how-old-is-your-dog-really-in-human-years\/#5bdc7e0d6b6d\" aria-label=\"Forbes\"><em>Forbes <\/em><\/a>piece by Sara Tabin, the relationship between dog years and human years is not linear, but is based on a logarithmic formula. The research group, based at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), created the formula as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Age in human years = 16 ln(age in dog years) +31.
