Existing recycling technologies usually produce plastic only good enough for clothing and carpets.<\/p>\n<p>The company behind the breakthrough, Carbios, said it was aiming for industrial-scale recycling within five years. It has partnered with major companies <a href=\"https:\/\/carbios.fr\/en\/nestle-waters-pepsico-and-suntory-beverage-food-europe-join-consortium-founded-by-carbios-and-loreal-to-support-the-worlds-first-enzymatic-technology-for-the-recycling-of-plastic\/\" class=\"\">including Pepsi and L\u2019Or\u00e9al<\/a> to accelerate development.
