When these insulin-producing cells were transplanted into mice induced to have an acute form of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/diabetes\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"diabetes\">diabetes<\/a>, their condition was rapidly cured.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese mice had very severe diabetes with blood sugar readings of more than 500 milligrams per decilitre of blood \u2013 levels that could be fatal for a person,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/medicine.wustl.edu\/news\/human-stem-cell-strategy-rapidly-cures-diabetes-in-mice\/\">explains<\/a> biomedical engineer Jeffrey R.
