The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Wednesday that it has provided clearance to the \u201cworld\u2019s first\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthimaging.com\/topics\/diagnostic-imaging\/entrepreneur-portable-point-care-mri-reality\">bedside MRI system<\/a>, according to an announcement.<\/p>\n<p>Hyperfine said it will begin shipping its portable, low-field modalities this summer. It\u2019s 510(k) clearance falls on the same day that Yale researchers reported the device can accurately and safely image patient\u2019s brains for stroke. Those preliminary results are set to be presented next week at the American Stroke Association\u2019s International conference in Los Angeles, the group <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.heart.org\/news\/portable-mris-bring-diagnostics-to-stroke-patients-bedside\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve flipped the concept from having to get patients to the MRI to bringing the MRI to the patients,\u201d said Kevin Sheth, MD, senior author and a chief physician at Yale School of Medicine. \u201cThis early work suggests our approach is safe and viable in a complex clinical care environment.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Magnetic resonance imaging is no longer confined to radiology departments.
