It hit the number just before markets closed on Thursday, ending the day\u2019s trading at $1,451.70 per share, up 0.87 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Google CEO Sundar Pichai took over as CEO of Alphabet in December, after Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2019\/12\/3\/20994218\/google-alphabet-ceo-sundar-pichai-larry-page-sergey-brin-step-down-control-management\">relinquished control of Alphabet<\/a>. It\u2019s been a bumpy couple of years at the company that included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2018\/10\/25\/18023364\/google-andy-rubin-payoff-90-million-sexual-misconduct-harassment\">allegations of sexual misconduct<\/a> by executives and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2018\/11\/2\/18057716\/google-walkout-20-thousand-employees-ceo-sundar-pichai-meeting\">20,000-person Google Walkout employee protest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alphabet is slated to report fourth-quarter earnings on February 3rd, and Wall Street analysts are <a href=\"https:\/\/go.redirectingat.com?id=66960X1514734&xs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.fool.com%2Finvesting%2F2020%2F01%2F16%2Fwhat-to-watch-when-alphabet-reports-q4-earnings.aspx&referrer=theverge.com&sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theverge.com%2F2020%2F1%2F16%2F21069458%2Fgoogle-alphabet-trillion-dollar-market-cap-apple-microsoft\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">expecting it to report revenue<\/a> of $46.9 billion, a year-over-year uptick of almost 20 percent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Google\u2019s parent company Alphabet ($GOOG) is now the fourth US company to hit a market cap of $1 trillion.
