Die Gr\u00fcnde hinter diesen Beeintr\u00e4chtigungen sind oft unklar. Nun haben Wissenschaftler des Zentrums f\u00fcr Regenerative Therapien der TU Dresden (CRTD) untersucht, ob eine Erh\u00f6hung der Anzahl von Hirnstammzellen helfen w\u00fcrde, kognitive Funktionen wie Lernen und Ged\u00e4chtnis wiederzuerlangen, die im Laufe des Alterns verloren gehen.<\/p>\n<p>Die Forschungsgruppe von Prof. Federico Calegari hat dazu eine im eigenen Labor entwickelte Methode verwendet: Im Gehirn alter M\u00e4use stimulierten die Wissenschaftler den dort vorhandenen kleinen Pool neuronaler Stammzellen so, dass sich die Menge dieser Stammzellen und damit auch die Anzahl der aus ihnen erzeugten Gehirnzellen erh\u00f6hte. Das Team beobachtete, dass diese zus\u00e4tzlichen Neuronen \u00fcberleben und sogar neue Kontakte zu benachbarten Zellen kn\u00fcpfen k\u00f6nnen.
