For those of you for whom the grind never stops, the tech startup Prophetic is offering an unusual device that supposedly lets you work while you sleep — because when else are you supposed to get your side hustle in?

Called “Halo,” it’s a thick headband that Prophetic says is able to induce lucid dreams, the kind of dreams in which you’re aware that you’re dreaming and thus potentially able to take control of.

They can make for memorable if not life-changing experiences for some. But rather than wasting your time and dream power exploring your subconscious mind, Prophetic wants you to take lucid dreams by the reins and try being productive with them for a change.

Elon Musk’s controversial brain implant company Neuralink has raised more funding as it gears up to start human trials.

Neuralink has just collected a further $43 million, according to an SEC filing last week. The fresh funding brings the amount raised to more than $323 million, SEC filings show.

The filing published this week shows the company increased its previous tranche, led by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, from $280 million to $323 million in early August. Thirty-two investors participated, according to the filing.

Neuralink hasn’t disclosed its valuation recently. But in June, Reuters reported that the company was valued at about $5 billion after privately-executed stock trades.

During the company’s second quarter earnings call in July, Musk had said that combining the two could provide a cyber body that is incredibly capable.

The PRIME Study (short for Precise Robotically Implanted Brain-Computer Interface) – a groundbreaking investigational medical device trial for our fully-implantable, wireless brain-computer interface (BCI) – aims to evaluate the safety of our implant (N1) and surgical robot (R1) and assess the initial functionality of our BCI for enabling people with paralysis to control external devices with their thoughts.

During the study, the R1 Robot will be used to surgically place the N1 Implant’s ultra-fine and flexible threads in a region of the brain that controls movement intention. Once in place, the N1 Implant is cosmetically invisible and is intended to record and transmit brain signals wirelessly to an app that decodes movement intention. The initial goal of our BCI is to grant people the ability to control a computer cursor or keyboard using their thoughts alone.
