From a handheld soldering gun to the ‘playbird mansion’ and, of course, the marvel of a smartphone microscope, there are some gadgets that we come across that we instantly want – and this wireless ultrasonic cutter is definitely another.

And much like the soldering gun, this little jigger has such a broad range of applications that, while it’s aimed at the do-it-yourself maker and crafter, its appeal is certainly not limited to this.

The Hanboost C1 wireless ultrasonic cutter can precisely slice through a vast array of materials – wood, plastics, leather, rubber, paper – silently, using 40,000 vibrations per second to make even the most fiddly jobs look easy. No tearing, no scratching or scoring, it just glides through calmly, slowly and with effortless precision.

AI Is Not Stealing Jobs—It Is Supercharging Software Development https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/ai-is-not-stealing-jobs-it-is-supercharging-software-development https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/ai-is-not-stealing-jobs-it-is-supercharging-software-development#respond Mon, 25 Nov 2024 13:24:25 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/ai-is-not-stealing-jobs-it-is-supercharging-software-development

A lot of the hype today centers on the idea of developers using AI “to write their code.” This is not practical, at least not for complex tasks. However, AI does have some strengths:

• Producing first drafts of code.

• Minor code updates.

• Automating repetitive tasks.

• Producing code summaries.

Managing Japan’s Shrinking Labor Force With AI and Robots https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/managing-japans-shrinking-labor-force-with-ai-and-robots https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/managing-japans-shrinking-labor-force-with-ai-and-robots#respond Thu, 21 Nov 2024 05:27:15 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/managing-japans-shrinking-labor-force-with-ai-and-robots

Japan’s combination of artificial intelligence and robotics may be the answer to its rapidly shrinking labor force

Todd Schneider, Gee Hee Hong, and Anh Van Le

While automation will eliminate very few occupations entirely in the coming decades, it is likely to have an impact on portions of almost all jobs to some degree—depending on the type of work and the tasks involved. Set to move beyond routine and repetitive manufacturing activities, automation has the potential to appear in a much broader range of activities than seen until now, and to redefine human labor and work style in services and other sectors. In Japan, the rapid decline in the labor force and the limited influx of immigrants create a powerful incentive for automation, which makes the country a particularly useful laboratory for the study of the future landscape of work.

The plan includes seven major recommendations.

The first is creating a new state authority to oversee nuclear development. They’ll also establish a single point of contact to help companies navigate the complex permitting process.

Education is also a big focus of the plan. It calls for partnerships with community colleges and universities to train workers for these high-tech jobs.

Sam Altman: “We Know How to Build AGI by 2025” 🤯 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/sam-altman-we-know-how-to-build-agi-by-2025-%f0%9f%a4%af https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/sam-altman-we-know-how-to-build-agi-by-2025-%f0%9f%a4%af#respond Fri, 15 Nov 2024 11:22:49 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/sam-altman-we-know-how-to-build-agi-by-2025-%f0%9f%a4%af

Could AGI be here by 2025? In a shocking new interview, Sam Altman — OpenAI’s CEO — just dropped some MAJOR revelations about their path to artificial general intelligence.

Unlike his usual careful corporate speak, Sam appears surprisingly confident about what’s ahead.

In this video, I break down Sam’s latest statements, OpenAI’s five-level roadmap to AGI, and why this matters for YOU.

After working full-time in AI since January 2023 and studying these developments closely, I’ll give you my analysis on:

-Why Sam’s recent statements are different from his past comments.
–OpenAI’s five levels toward AGI and where we actually are.
–What this means for the economy, jobs, and your future.
–How you can prepare and position yourself NOW

The world is still sleeping on what’s coming. Whether AGI arrives in 2025 or later, one thing is clear — the pace of change is rapidly accelerating, and the opportunities are massive for those who prepare.

You Can Lock Your Social Security Number After a Data Breach. Here’s How https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/you-can-lock-your-social-security-number-after-a-data-breach-heres-how https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/you-can-lock-your-social-security-number-after-a-data-breach-heres-how#respond Thu, 14 Nov 2024 14:23:29 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/11/you-can-lock-your-social-security-number-after-a-data-breach-heres-how

Your Social Security number is essential for finding employment, filing taxes and applying for credit. It can also be a nightmare to recover if thieves get a hold of your SSN and use it to apply for jobs, open accounts in your name and steal your tax refund.

Blocking electronic access to your SSN may feel extreme — it’s certainly inconvenient. But if you’ve been a victim of identity theft or your personal identifiable information was compromised in a recent data breach, like the hacks of Change Healthcare or National Public Data, where hundreds of millions of people were impacted, locking your SSN may protect you from future harm.

Blocking access or “locking” your SSN will make it extremely difficult for an identity thief to use your SSN for malicious actions. This, coupled with a credit freeze, can help stop identity thieves in their tracks.

$7 billion “city within a city” planned for Phoenix https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/10/7-billion-city-within-a-city-planned-for-phoenix https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/10/7-billion-city-within-a-city-planned-for-phoenix#respond Tue, 29 Oct 2024 15:36:11 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2024/10/7-billion-city-within-a-city-planned-for-phoenix

“Our vision is for chip designers and engineering students, not just suppliers and manufacturers, to co-locate here, to create a value added ecosystem beyond just what it takes to build chips, and that’s how we’re going to create more value in the Phoenix economy,” Mack said.

A further three plants are also planned for the Phoenix site, which could bring TSMC’s total investment in the area to over $120 billion. Tech giant Apple has announced it will buy semiconductors from the fabrication plants.

The plants are anticipated to create 10,000 permanent jobs, and another 80,000 are expected to be created in the surrounding development.
