Are you ready for a little Ingenuity?

NASA will this week make its first attempt at powered, controlled flight of an aircraft on another planet.

A tiny helicopter called Ingenuity is currently on the Martian surface, having been deposited there by the Perseverance rover, which landed on in the Jezero Crater on February 18.

MAKING IN SPACE
FROM MINING TO MANUFACTURING
As humanity expands into space and unlocks the incalculable abundance of the CisLunar Econosphere, Orbital Manufacturing is a necessary first step.

Here on Earth, settlements emerged around concentrations of natural resources: rivers, forests, ores, harbors, fertile fields. Roads then developed between the resources and settlements, and towns grew. Resource extraction (mining) and resource optimization (manufacturing) evolved. Eventually, specialization led to local, regional, and national competitive advantages. With growth speeding the process, communities and people prospered!

This month, we’ll explore the evolution of orbital manufacturing, its technological and production capabilities on orbit, and the financial and industrial impacts on the United States.

A Close Exoplanet Found That May Have An Atmosphere Ideal For Study https://lifeboat.com/blog/2021/03/a-close-exoplanet-found-that-may-have-an-atmosphere-ideal-for-study Wed, 10 Mar 2021 02:22:17 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2021/03/a-close-exoplanet-found-that-may-have-an-atmosphere-ideal-for-study

Different methods of searching for and finding distant exoplanets give different information about the planets found.

The transit method — where an exoplanets passed in front of its sun and dims the bright sunlight ever so slightly — gives astronomers not only a detection but also its radius or size.

The radial velocity method — where an exoplanet’s gravity causes its host star to “wobble” in a way that can be measured — provides different information about mass and orbit.
