Different companies have already begun their developments and clinical trials of their brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) which need to be implanted on human test subjects, centering mostly on paraplegic patients. Artificial-intelligence tech company OpenAI said it has raised $6.6 billion in new funding, giving it a massive post-money valuation of $157 billion, almost double its previous reported valuation of $80 billion earlier this year.

Generative AI was developed largely without government assistance, but its next phase will require government involvement.
